Google Consent Mode and other 2024 GDPR Updates – is your website fully GDPR compliant?

2023 saw monumental shifts in data protection and GDPR updates with new legal precedents being set, forcing the world’s biggest data dealers to fundamentally reshape their platforms. Google reworked and relaunched Google Maps (now a paid platform), Google Analytics 4, AdWords, reCAPTCHA and much else. Meta was forced to change many aspects of their systems.

All of this while cyber warfare and Matrix-style hacking continue to plunder its way through our unsuspecting every day, forcing an ever-increasingly complex, online security pandemic that is sending shockwaves to every strata of the digital world. From Browsers to computer Operating Systems to Internet Service Providers, layers of complexity plus constant, frequent updates make the work of webdevelopment ever-more difficult to produce.

So when a tool like CookieYes comes along, we breath a sigh of relief. When we attended WordCamp international conference in Athens last year, we met with the Google team who had CookieYes at the top of their Google compliant list for the newly launched Google Consent Mode. If you use any Google services on your website, you will need to have a Cookie Manager that is GCM compliant. We have now upgraded over 20 client websites bringing them up-to-date with GDPR requirements.

Do contact us in order to upgrade and comply. The GDPR watch dogs are on guard and it is better to be safe than sorry by implementing a compliant Cookie Manager.
