Earlier this year, I embarked on a journey of working as an intern at a WordPress development agency, called Didgeroo, situated in London’s Silicon Roundabout in Shoreditch. They work with creative agencies and specialise on web development and hosting.
My role was called ‘project assistant’. In this role, I was given a variety of interesting duties and responsibilities. Firstly, a major part of the job was interacting with clients through Trello, email and phone calls and reporting their problems to developers by raising tickets in Jira. I also created environments for new sites, tested and added content to WordPress sites and undertook some social media and SEO work. Out of all the tasks my personal favourite was writing blog posts. This was something I’ve never done before but, because I got to blog about new and interesting topics, I learned a great deal from it. But without a shadow of a doubt the best thing about working here was that I got to work with two great human beings. They have years of experience in this field and I learned so much from them.
When I started this journey six months ago, I didn’t know what to expect because I had no previous experience working in this industry and didn’t have a great deal of knowledge on project management. But I had two great mentors who helped me get me up to speed very quickly so I found the work very easy. All in all, it has been an insightful six months and I gained invaluable experience working in the industry and I’m so grateful and humble to get this opportunity. I have no doubt that this immense experience will help in me a great deal in the future. Didgeroo rocks!
Now, I’m even more chuffed because I was offered a full-time job, I’ve accepted it, and it’s great to be a part of the Didgeroo family.
